Memory
- P-D64: (from SBS Technologies)
- The P-D64 PC-MIP module provides 64 Mbytes of storage with eight 4 Mbyte x 16-bit DRAMs. This DRAM provides volatile storage that is exclusively under user control. Multiple P-D64 modules can be used together in a system for increased storage capacity. Six P-D64 modules can be placed on a 6U-carrier board, providing 384 Mbytes of DRAM in a single system slot. The PCI interface to the module features a 32-bit data path and supports bus speeds up to 33 MHz. The module includes an on-board 128 Kbyte PCI configuration ROM. A Windows NT driver is available. This provides access to the DRAM exclusively for application programs. Using this driver, the memory can be shared by multiple process threads or reserved for use by only one thread. The application directly reads and writes the PC-MIP DRAM.
- P-F64: (from SBS Technologies)
- The P-F64 PCˇMIP holds 64 Mbytes of Intel StrataFlash(R) memory. The non-volatile characteristic of Flash memory makes it ideal for storing primary application code, operating system software, system configuration state, and data tables. Any number of P-F64 modules can be used together in a system for increased storage capacity. The 64 Mbytes of memory is implemented as two separate 32 Mbyte banks. Each bank is divided into 64 contiguous blocks of 512 Kbytes each. Each block may be erased and programmed up to 100,000 times. Each byte may be programmed individually, or in buffered chunks of up to 128 bytes. Programming buffered chunks is a great deal faster than programming individual bytes.
